Actors Susan Sarandon and Hannah Einbinder were arrested by police in New York during a protest demanding an end to US arms support for Israel.

The celebrities were detained at the Jewish Voice for Peace demonstration against Israeli prime minister’s address to the UN general assembly on Thursday (September 24).

Officers can be seen helping Sarandon, who was sporting a “Fund people not bombs” shirt, to her feet and detaining her near the UN headquarters.

Police also detained another demonstrator, whose wrists were secured with zip ties.
