France will send troops, radar systems and defence equipment to Saudi Arabia to help protect the Red Sea port city of Yanbu, President Emmanuel Macron said on Thursday. Yanbu is a key route for Saudi energy exports and has come under missile attacks by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis. He stressed that the deployment was intended to protect the site “not to get us involved in any conflicts”.
