And that’s before we even get to the critical geopolitical aspect of the matter.

China is still behind the U.S. in key parts of the AI stack.

America spends far more on advanced AI hardware, leads in frontier chips, and maintains a major software advantage, while China remains weaker in cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturing.

That gives Beijing every reason to REJECT a serious global pause…

From China’s perspective, slowing down while the U.S. is ahead would simply freeze the current hierarchy in place: America keeps its advantage in chips, compute, and frontier models while China accepts second place.

So even if U.S. companies conclude that slowing down is safest, Washington still has to ask a brutal question:

What happens if China KEEPS racing? That is where the technical side becomes decisive…

AI depends on enormous amounts of advanced hardware, and those chips don’t last forever.

Data-center silicon degrades, supply chains remain highly concentrated, and each generation requires new fabs, packaging, energy infrastructure, and capital.

So the race isn’t just about who has the BEST model today, it’s about who can keep rebuilding and expanding the stack faster.

If China keeps pouring resources into domestic fabs, power generation, data centers and models while America deliberately slows, that gap can narrow.

And if it were to narrow enough, pressure on U.S. companies to accelerate would return… immediately.

So what’s the solution, here?
