🇵🇰🇦🇫 Pakistan says it struck 10 locations inside Afghanistan overnight, after accusing the Taliban of launching drones from Afghan territory on September 23. Islamabad’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said the targets were used to “launch and store” drones; Afghan/local reporting places strikes in Khost, Paktia and Kandahar, including areas around Gurbuz, Ismail Khel and Mandozai.
There is an AFP image from Kandahar showing flames and smoke after the September 24 strike, but site-by-site damage is still not independently verified.
🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia’s Tornado Fleet Is Far More Dangerous Than It Looks
I think people seriously underestimate Saudi Arabia’s Tornado fleet. The Kingdom operates roughly 80 Tornado IDS strike aircraft, and despite their age, they have been upgraded with modern precision weapons, including the Storm Shadow air launched cruise missile.
What makes them even more interesting is that these aircraft have real combat experience. Saudi Tornados have been used in the Yemen campaign, including reported Storm Shadow strikes against Houthi targets.
The Tornado may be an old design, but low level strike capability, precision guided weapons and long range stand off missiles still make it a serious strike platform.
Saudi Arabia may have newer F-15SAs, Typhoons and F-15Cs, but I wouldn’t write off the Tornado just yet.
