🇺🇸 A federal judge just ordered the Trump administration to let CNN, MS NOW and Politico back into the White House, effective IMMEDIATELY
Judge Timothy Kelly ruled their press passes were pulled without “constitutionally adequate due process,” since the reporters weren’t told they could appeal until days after the passes were confiscated.
Trump banned the 3 outlets last Friday in a social media post over their “constant ‘reporting’ FAKE NEWS!” and promised “Other Fake News Media Outlets to follow.”
In court, the Justice Department argued the outlets had endangered national security.
Their lawyer pointed out that national security never came up until after they sued, as if “a light bulb went off.”
The judge wasn’t buying that argument either.
The CNN story the administration flagged, about a bunker being rebuilt under the East Wing, came out months before the White House happily renewed that reporter’s pass this summer.
Judge Kelly also handled the 2018 case when Trump booted CNN’s Jim Acosta, so he’s seen this movie before.
