🇺🇸🇨🇳 Trump wrapped up Xi Jinping’s White House dinner with a toast to “harmony, peace and success” between the U.S. and China.
He thanked Xi and Madame Peng for making the long trip to America and raised a glass to a relationship he said has stretched across “thousands of miles and hundreds of years.”
After all the tariffs, threats and trade drama, that is one hell of a toast.

Mario Nawfal (@MarioNawfal)🇺🇸🇨🇳 Trump told Xi the 2 systems are different and that the 2 countries have never gotten along better.
That was the formal toast.
Then he left the script and offered the room a look at the new ballroom still under construction, saying presidents have wanted it for 150 years and the East Room only holds about 145 people.
The real meeting was about the grind underneath the lighting.
Trade pauses, farm and energy buys, fentanyl, AI rules, Taiwan sitting in the room without being solved.
A first full state visit in a decade is Washington saying the rivalry has to be managed, not just performed.
