The dispute is about who owns the seabed in the Aegean and eastern Mediterranean, which decides who drills the gas underneath it, and both countries have sent warships to shadow survey vessels over it before.

On paper it is the closest the two sides have been since June.

Then there’s the Yemen front, where six Houthi missiles flew at Taif and Yanbu on the same day the proposal landed.

Charles reads that as the Guard’s other hand, a proxy turned up beside the offer to split the Saudis from Washington or pull American attention south, and he believes the Houthis are far more integrated with the Quds Force than Washington wants to admit.

He frames the war as two-dollar diesel with a nuclear Iran or six-fifty without.

Trouble is, diesel is already six-fifty and the enrichment allegedly never stopped.

Hakan Fidan met his Saudi and Pakistani counterparts on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly as the three countries continued building out the alliance.

The pact called for collective deterrence, deeper military coordination, joint defense production and a permanent secretariat in Riyadh, with Pakistan providing its first secretary-general.

The agreement had been signed in August, followed weeks later by the first strategic political and defense committee meeting in Istanbul.

Then the coordination moved to New York.
