BREAKING | 🇺🇸🇪🇸🇫🇷🇮🇹🇷🇺‼️‼️ U.S. intelligence has reportedly warned Spain, France and Italy that Russia may be preparing drone attacks against targets in Southern Europe, according to El Mundo. The intelligence was reportedly shared with European governments following CIA Director John Ratcliffe’s August 25 visit to Moscow.

The reported warning points to a possible operation involving Gerbera-type drones launched from merchant vessels. El Mundo says the drones could carry relatively small explosive payloads, potentially sufficient to cause fires or temporarily disrupt airports rather than inflict large-scale destruction. The report also raises concerns about limitations in the three countries’ defenses against such threats. Neither the CIA nor the governments of Spain, France or Italy have publicly confirmed the reported intelligence warning.

If accurate, the warning would represent a significant expansion of the threat facing NATO, extending the risk of Russian hybrid operations far beyond Europe’s eastern flank. The reported scenario appears designed less around large-scale physical destruction and more around disruption, fear and political pressure, particularly as all three countries move toward important electoral periods in 2027.
