Day: September 21, 2026
The energy truce lasted hours. Trump announced that both sides had agreed to stop striking energy facilities; Peskov welcomed it, demanded safe passage for Russian tankers in the same breath, and refused to say whether Russia would stop. That same night Russian drones burned petrol stations around Kyiv and a missile hit the facility supplying the capital’s water — and Ukraine answered at Yaroslavl, where crude processing stopped for at least the ninth time this year, and at Kapotnya, the Gazprom refinery inside Moscow that supplies around forty percent of the capital’s fuel and up to seventy percent of the region’s petrol and aviation fuel.
Then the Kremlin tried to prove the country stands behind it, and proved the opposite. Ballot boxes went door to door through occupied Kherson under armed escort while Oleshky waited for food that stopped coming on the twenty-fifth of June. In one Moscow school, United Russia took ninety votes at the table where observers stood and six hundred and seventy-five at the table where nobody was watching. And while Moscow burned, NATO closed a ring of fifty aircraft around Kaliningrad, Italian Eurofighters made the first NATO drone kill over Lithuania, German Leopards rolled into Rudninkai and Poland began walling its border — every fear Putin exported landing back on his own map.
