The information vacuum surrounding Vladimir Putin’s movements has sparked a new wave of Western media coverage about the Kremlin leader’s growing paranoia. According to several publications, citing monitoring of closed Telegram channels and leaks from intelligence agencies, Putin has been confined virtually exclusively to the Kremlin fortress for at least a week, completely refraining from making any public trips around the country. The Daily Star reports this . Analysts attribute this to the sharply increased fear of assassination attempts against the backdrop of successful precision strikes by Ukrainian drones and the assassination of high-ranking officers deep behind Russian lines. According to classified reports from European intelligence agencies, previously leaked to the Financial Times and investigative media, the Federal Protective Service has tightened security protocols around the dictator to unprecedented levels: Strict contact filtering: Personal access to Putin is minimized. Chefs, photographers, and personal security guards are under 24-hour video surveillance and are prohibited from using mobile phones with internet access. Restricting geography: The Federal Protective Service has drastically reduced the list of places Putin is permitted to visit. Traditional trips to residences near Moscow or to Valdai are being replaced by stays in highly secure underground bunkers. Fear of Elites and Drones: Sources note that the Kremlin fears not so much external threats as an internal conspiracy by political elites and the use of drones to assassinate the top leader. To conceal Putin’s isolation from the general public, his press service actively employs the “canned” tactic of publishing pre-recorded meetings, disguising them as operational. However, the official schedule reveals rare but significant face-to-face encounters, taking place in the Kremlin’s secluded halls at the famous long tables. One of the few people allowed into the perimeter was North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui. During this formal meeting at a white oval table, Putin expressed deep gratitude to Pyongyang for its military support in the war, but the actual details of the negotiations and the depth of coordination between the regimes remained, as usual, completely classified. Retired Major General, former Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine says that the emergence and expansion of sovereign Ukrainian ballistic missiles is capable of inflicting a strategic defeat on the Russian Federation and completely destroying the internal sense of security within the aggressor country. According to the general, Russia’s key vulnerability lies in the structure of its defense industry. Unlike modern military doctrines, which advocate decentralization, the Russian military-industrial complex is critically dependent on a few gigantic industrial hubs. Large defense enterprises are concentrated in specific locations in central Russia, and Moscow is physically incapable of quickly dispersing or relocating these facilities further into the country. This makes the factories an ideal target. Even limited but regular Ukrainian ballistic missile strikes on these coordinates would have a colossal cumulative effect—both logistical and profound psychological.
Vladimir Gavrilov emphasized that Russia’s existing air and missile defense system is virtually incapable of effectively intercepting modern ballistic targets. Given that new European anti-ballistic defense projects are too time-consuming to implement, and the global stockpile of scarce interceptor missiles is severely limited, Ukraine must rely solely on its own technological solutions.
