WATCH: Republican Senator Thom Tillis delivered a rare public rebuke of his own party’s election strategy, warning President Donald Trump that implementing sweeping new voter ID requirements before the 2026 midterm elections is simply not feasible. Speaking on the Senate floor, the North Carolina Republican argued that forcing thousands of state and local election offices to overhaul voting procedures in less than 100 days would create administrative chaos and could undermine, rather than strengthen, election integrity. Tillis urged the White House and congressional Republicans to pursue a realistic, phased approach to voter ID reforms, warning that anyone claiming the plan could be implemented before November was “misleading” the president.
