The World Web Times - worldwebtimes.comA series of events has begun in Manila, Philippines, within the framework of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) foreign ministers’ meeting.
According to Report, the main session of ASEAN foreign ministers will be held on July 21. Until July 24, Manila will host talks with the association’s partners, including Russia, China, and the United States, as well as a meeting of foreign ministers from East Asia Summit member states.
In addition, participants will mark the 50th Anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), which was signed on February 24, 1976, in Bali, Indonesia, during the first ASEAN Summit.
Dax Imperial, spokesperson for ASEAN Affairs at the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in the Philippines, noted that the agenda includes regional security and energy cooperation, notably the ratification of ASEAN’s agreement on safety in the oil industry.
The events are expected to be attended by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, as well as representatives from Japan, India, New Zealand, and the European Union.
