U.S. President Donald Trump has released declassified intelligence that he says reveals “shocking vulnerabilities” in the country’s election infrastructure and alleged Chinese interference efforts. During a televised address, Trump claimed the information showed foreign threats to U.S. voting systems and accused officials of previously withholding details from the public.
The Chinese Embassy in Washington rejected the allegations, telling Reuters that Beijing “has never and will never interfere in the presidential elections.” The release comes despite a 2021 U.S. intelligence assessment that found no of foreign interference in the 2020 election results as Trump says election security would remain a key focus ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
