Moving away from the concept of a fee, the revised plan instead calls for Gulf countries to make sizeable investments in the United States in exchange for free transit and ongoing American protection. Trump explained that he dislikes the concept of a fee, but added that it is unfair for the U.S. to protect the crucial shipping strait for the entire world without compensation.
The military action prompted retaliatory drone and missile attacks from Iran directed at America’s Middle East allies. Iranian representative Zolfaghari warned that if the conflict spreads, the flames of war will engulf every country in the region. Military expert Keane observed that the U.S. will deal with the situation appropriately, as diplomatic efforts are sought to prevent an all-out war.
