Day: July 14, 2026

Day 2 of the preliminary hearing opens. Case called again, appearances entered, and the court confirms the exclusionary rule is in effect — witnesses who will testify are kept out of the courtroom. The unedited start of the second day.

Episode 9 of THE COMPLETE RECORD — the preliminary hearing in UT v. Tyler Robinson, cut into witnesses and issues so you can follow the actual evidence, not the rumors.

ANALYST NOTES (John Phillips): The exclusionary “rule on witnesses” (sequestration) sounds procedural, but it’s a truth-testing tool — it stops later witnesses from shaping their testimony to match what they heard earlier. Watch who’s allowed to stay (case agents usually can) and who has to leave.

UPDATE: The hearing concluded July 10 — Judge Graf deferred his bind-over ruling, setting written briefing (state July 28, defense Aug. 11, rebuttal Aug. 18) and oral argument Sept. 1. Subscribe for every development.
