July 13, 2024: Butler, Pennsylvania Rally ShootingDuring an open-air campaign rally near Butler, Pennsylvania, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks fired eight rounds from an AR-15–style rifle from a nearby roof. The bullet grazed Trump’s right ear, killed spectator Corey Comperatore, and critically injured two others.
5:10 p.m. – Law enforcement first identifies Crooks as a person of interest.
5:30 p.m. – Crooks is spotted using a rangefinder near the venue.
5:51 p.m. – Local police alert the Secret Service about a suspicious person.
5:52 p.m. – Secret Service alerts its snipers and ground teams.
6:02 p.m. – Trump takes the stage to speak to the crowd.
6:09 p.m. – Rally attendees spot a gunman moving on the roof.6:11 p.m. – Crooks opens fire. Trump ducks behind the podium as Secret Service
6:11 p.m. (26 seconds later) – A Secret Service Counter Sniper shoots and kills Crooks on the roof.
6:12 p.m. – Agents help Trump to his feet. He pumps his fist, yelling “Fight!” to the cheering crowd.
6:14 p.m. – Trump’s motorcade departs for Butler Memorial Hospital.
6:42 p.m. – Secret Service issues an official statement confirming Trump is safe.8:42 p.m. – Trump posts on Truth Social, confirming a bullet pierced his upper right ear.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-South Carolina) has passed away following a brief and sudden illness, just days after turning 71. Graham served his state and country for more than three decades — from the halls of Congress to active military deployments overseas.

Born in Central, South Carolina, Graham’s life was shaped early by tragedy. While in college, both of his parents died within 15 months of each other, leaving him the sole provider for his younger sister. He went on to earn a law degree from the University of South Carolina and serve as a Judge Advocate General in the U.S. Air Force — a career that spanned 33 years and included deployments to both Afghanistan and Iraq.

First elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1994, Graham moved to the Senate in 2002 and quickly became one of Washington’s most influential voices. He chaired the Senate Judiciary Committee, shepherding dozens of conservative judges to the federal bench — including Justice Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court. He later chaired the powerful Senate Budget Committee.

Graham was a member of the bipartisan “Gang of 8,” working across the aisle on immigration reform legislation that passed the Senate in 2013. His decades of military and foreign policy experience shaped his work on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and his steadfast support for Israel and Ukraine.

Fellow South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott remembered him simply: “South Carolina lost a statesman and I’ve lost a friend.”
