A new report by NGO Monitor, presented by former UK extremism adviser Lord Walney, reveals that a network of foreign donors, charities and activist groups has helped finance pro-Palestine organizations and demonstrations across Britain.
According to the report:
– Iranian-linked and U.S. far-left organizations are alleged to have funded UK anti-Israel groups.
– Some organizations reportedly operate with little or no financial transparency despite fundraising for years.
– The report specifically names the Open Society Foundations (founded by George Soros), Avaaz, and The Cultures of Resistance Network among foreign funding sources for organizations it examined.
– The report reveals that cryptocurrency is increasingly being used to obscure funding sources.
– At least 11 of the 40 organizations examined have links to extremist organizations or officials who have met extremist actors.
– The report also says that some groups deliberately target young people with anti-Israel messaging.
– Organizations named include the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Amnesty UK, the Islamic Human Rights Commission (IHRC), Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), Stop the War Coalition, Palestine Action, Na’amod, Action Network, Oxfam, MSF and CAGE.
Lord Walney said the movement is not purely “spontaneous and grassroots” but is, in part, supported by a “coordinated and internationally financed network,” and called for tighter regulation and greater transparency over political activism and charity funding.
