German mother Alexandra, 52, was stabbed to death on 19 May in Hanau, Germany, while walking her dog by her daughter Shalina’s ex-boyfriend, Luca I., 23, who is in pre-trial detention on suspicion of murder.
Shalina says she repeatedly warned police after her ex threatened, “I’m going to kill myself, I’m going to kill you. Wait. If I ever see you, you’ll regret it.” The day before the killing, he texted: “You will think of me your whole life, and everything that happens now is your fault.”
After her mother’s death, Shalina said: “He wanted to harm me. He wanted to destroy me.”
Her father said: “We really tried everything that was legally available to us. But law is not law these days. Something always has to happen first.”
The family is now calling for tougher protections against stalkers and violent offenders.
