Serial rapist Yahya Maly, a 28-year-old man from Ballwin, Missouri, has been sentenced to 291 years in prison after being convicted on 17 counts, including rape and sodomy, for attacks against seven women between March 2023 and February 2025.

During the trial, prosecutors said Maly met several of the victims through Muslim dating apps and that he shared the Muslim faith with many of the women he targeted. All seven victims testified in court.

One woman told the court the attacks left her with PTSD, depression, ongoing counseling and medication needs, and fears about her future relationships and family life. She urged dating apps to conduct background checks on users.

St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Melissa Price Smith said Maly was a danger to the community and credited the victims’ courage for ensuring he could “never hurt anybody ever again.” She added that she feared there may be additional victims who never came forward.

Maly maintains his innocence and plans to appeal the conviction, according to his attorney.
