كشف تقرير أمريكي تفاصيل فضيحة هزّت وكالة الاستخبارات المركزية (CIA)، تتعلق بإخفاء أموال حكومية بطريقة ماكرة. ووفقاً لصحيفة “نيويورك تايمز”، ابتكر ضابط سابق في الوكالة يُدعى ديفيد راش، برنامجاً استخباراتياً سرياً زائفاً لمساعدته على إخفاء تدفق الأموال الحكومية إلى خزائنه الشخصية، مستخدماً أداة تُخصص عادةً للاستخبارات الحساسة.
وحسب وثائق المحكمة، مكّنه البرنامج المزيف من الحصول على سبائك ذهبية بقيمة عشرات الملايين بين نوفمبر الماضي ومارس من هذا العام، بذريعة “نفقات متعلقة بالعمل”. وداهم مكتب التحقيقات الفيدرالي (FBI) منزله في مايو، وعثر على 303 سبائك ذهب، ومليوني دولار، و35 ساعة فاخرة. كما كشف التحقيق أن راش نسج شبكة خداع حول خدمته العسكرية وخلفيته التعليمية للوصول إلى مناصب ورواتب أعلى.
