Newly released FBI records obtained by Judicial Watch are raising fresh questions about the attempted assassination of President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.
According to heavily redacted documents released through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, Butler County Sheriff’s Office personnel exchanged two emails with Thomas Matthew Crooks prior to the July 13, 2024 shooting. While investigators reportedly described the communications as “unremarkable,” the contents of the emails remain hidden from public view due to extensive redactions.
The documents also reveal that law enforcement allegedly recovered a mysterious “gray remote device” equipped with an antenna from Crooks’ pocket after the attack. Additional details about the device have not been disclosed.
With key information still redacted, many are asking why Crooks was communicating with local law enforcement before the rally, what those emails contained, and whether important details about the investigation are still being withheld from the public.

The fact he blocked Israel from retaliating against Iran weakened Israel deterrence significantly, signaled to Iran that limited attacks against Israel can occur with no price attached to it, and damaged US negotiating position.
Should Israel now take into account that every significant action against one of Iran’s proxies means an Iranian retaliation, one that it can’t answer to because of Trump?
The proxies themselves might also feel emboldened now to attack Israel knowing Iran is willing to get involved.
