A fierce debate erupted in the House of Representatives over Section 224 of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a provision aimed at expanding defense and cybersecurity cooperation between the United States and Israel.

Representative Ro Khanna introduced an amendment seeking to strike the provision, arguing it would deepen military integration without sufficient congressional oversight. Representative Sara Jacobs backed the effort, raising concerns about civilian casualties in Gaza, human rights safeguards, and cybersecurity partnerships involving surveillance technologies.

Opponents strongly defended the measure, insisting it strengthens U.S. national security, improves transparency, enhances congressional oversight, and allows American forces to benefit from combat-tested innovations and advanced technology.

After nearly 20 minutes of intense exchanges, lawmakers voted on the amendment. The amendment ultimately failed, preserving Section 224 in the NDAA.

Hours after President Donald Trump nominated Todd Blanche to permanently lead the DOJ, the top Senate Republican could not say whether Blanche could survive a nomination fight on Capitol Hill.

Blanche is Trump’s firebrand former personal attorney who had been serving as the No. 2 Justice Department official before Bondi’s firing. As testimony continues in the Track Meet Tragedy trial, Court TV’s Cody Thomas reports from inside the courthouse, where jurors have been shown multiple surveillance videos of the fatal incident.
