🇺🇸🇮🇷 Iran-linked ships have been spotted making suspicious movements directly above critical underwater internet cables in the Gulf of Oman. At least four vessels, including three U.S.-sanctioned tankers, have reportedly slowed down, circled cable routes and switched off their tracking systems at unusual moments. Maritime intelligence firm Windward says their movements are consistent with potentially mapping cable locations or placing explosives, although no sabotage has been confirmed. The activity follows explicit warnings from Iran’s Revolutionary Guard that underwater internet cables, AI facilities and data centers could become targets if the U.S. and Israel launch another bombing ca

The stakes are enormous.

Iraq, Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar depend entirely on cables passing through the Strait of Hormuz for international internet connectivity.

Damaging them could disrupt banking transactions, communications, cloud computing and digital businesses across the Gulf.

With Washington continuing to move military assets toward the region, Tehran appears to be signaling that another war could threaten far more than oil shipments.
