The US stock market faced a ‘bloodbath’ on November 5, just a day after the midterm results, where the GOP faced massive pushback. As per reports, approximately 2.5 trillion dollars in market value has been wiped out amid AI fears. Reportedly, it is one of the worst drops in the last 18 to 19 months.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed lower by over 1,800 points, the NASDAQ over 1,400 points and the S&P 500 over 300 points. Stocks erased the sharp gains from the rally seen in the wake of the US midterm elections, as investors quickened their shift away from technology stocks on fears of a data-center buildout slowdown.

The Dow fell 1,833 points and erased its entire post-election rally, the Nasdaq dropped 5.5 percent into correction, and Nvidia alone lost $374 billion in a day. The trigger wasn’t earnings.
Voters put 50 data-center measures on Tuesday’s ballots and killed the projects in 47 of them, a quarter of all planned US capacity sits in Texas, and Texas just elected a governor, Gina Hinojosa, who campaigned against the buildout.
Meta’s own president said data centers were “front and center” in the exit polls.
UBS figures 30 percent of planned capacity is now at risk by 2028; OpenAI rushed out a pledge the same afternoon to cut power use at peak hours and keep residents’ bills down.
Trump blamed Democrats for the drop and he’s half right: the market is pricing in what the new Congress and new governors do to the AI boom.
The other half is that voters in Lubbock and Collin County looked at $4 gas and a grid strained by server farms and decided they weren’t paying for Silicon Valley’s electricity.

3 hours before the shooting, 35 year old Jacob Pearson allegedly threatened to turn up with a rifle and body armor unless the court case was cancelled.
Around 12:10 PM, he drove his car through Citibank security gates and fatally shot 41 year old advisor LeAnne Selmon.
Investigators say that Selmon had no connection to Pearson.
Marine veteran and security guard John Fraley shot him before he could kill more. Pearson died later in hospital.
