European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity Valdis Dombrovskis presents the 2026 Annual Overview Report on Simplification, Implementation and Enforcement at a CEPS event in Brussels on November 5, 2026.
The presentation highlights the European Commission’s efforts to reduce administrative burdens, simplify regulations, improve enforcement and strengthen the implementation of EU laws across Member States.
Key Highlights:
– €22.3 billion in estimated annual savings through simplification initiatives.
– €7.7 billion in potential savings for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
– 12 Omnibus packages proposed by the European Commission.
– New simplification priorities for 2027, including banking, transport, housing and digital markets.
– 332 pre-infringement dialogues, with a 74% resolution rate.
– 874 formal infringement procedures launched, reaching a 10-year high.
– 61 cases referred to the Court of Justice of the European Union.
– 499 infringement procedures closed following Member States’ compliance with EU law.
The event also features an expert panel discussion with representatives from CEPS, the European Commission, SMEunited, the Wilfried Martens Centre/College of Europe, the Swedish Implementation Council and IDDRI.
