Back in 2024, he grabbed nearly HALF the Hispanic vote, way up from about a third in 2020.
This time around? Republicans got just 1 in 3, exit polls show.
Texas, where 4 in 10 people are Latino, flipped both its governor’s mansion and a Senate seat, and Gina Hinojosa is about to become the state’s first Latina governor.
Over in southeast Florida, Democrats even snagged a congressional district Republicans had literally just redrawn to win.
So what changed? Prices, for starters.
Nearly 9 in 10 voters said the cost of living weighed on their vote, and almost 2 in 3 pinned it on Trump.
Then there’s ICE.
More than half of all voters said Trump has gone too far on immigration, and in an NBC/Telemundo poll before the election, 67% of Latino voters said the deportations had gone too far.
Pricier groceries and ICE raids in the neighborhood turned out to be a rough combo for the GOP 😬
