🇮🇷🇺🇸 Iran says a deal to end the war is still FAR off, and the overnight fireworks prove it.
A senior Iranian official said the 2 sides remain far apart, and Tehran won’t accept Washington’s “excessive demands.”
Iran’s order of business: meet its conditions first, THEN Hormuz reopens, and nuclear talks come after that.
Overnight, the U.S. hit targets on Iran’s Qeshm Island in what it called defensive strikes on missile sites used against American assets.
The IRGC, for its part, claims it shot down a U.S. MQ-9 drone over Hormuz.
The official warned Iran is ready to hit back hard at any U.S. strikes, in the region and beyond.
Qatari mediators flew into Tehran last night with a draft deal, while FM Abbas Araqchi says Iran is in talks with Saudi Arabia on a regional security setup with no foreign militaries involved.

Oxfam France’s Climate Inequality Advocacy Officer Selma Huart examines the relationship between concentrated wealth, unequal exposure to disasters and investors profiting from both polluting industries and reconstruction. “They are burning the planet, benefiting from it, but they are also benefiting from rebuilding,” she explains. Huart places redistribution at the centre of climate policy, calling for taxes on wealthy polluters to finance protection for vulnerable communities.
