🇵🇱🇩🇪 There’s an interesting theory about Poland’s constitutional crisis that brings GERMANY, RUSSIA and the NORD STREAM sabotage into the picture.
And it starts with ENERGY.
German industry has struggled with expensive energy since losing access to cheap Russian gas. Meanwhile, Poland sits on two historically important energy routes into Germany.
The Yamal-Europe GAS pipeline and the Druzhba OIL pipeline.
Yamal alone was designed to transport roughly 33 BILLION cubic meters of gas annually.
So the theory goes that Germany has a powerful economic incentive to influence Poland’s political direction, potentially reopening access to Russian energy.
And with Warsaw now embroiled in a constitutional crisis, that raises an interesting geopolitical question.
Could energy security be one of the hidden interests shaping the struggle for power in Poland?
It’s a provocative hypothesis, but there’s a rather significant gap between Germany wanting cheaper energy and Germany orchestrating events in Warsaw.
The first is well documented. The second remains entirely unproven.
