Ukraine hit the plant behind Russia’s missiles.
Drones struck a sanctioned Penza institute making sensors for Iskander and Kh-101 missiles and the Su-57 jet, OSINT analysts said. Zelenskyy confirmed the hit, 600 km deep.
More than 1,000 deaths in Spain were attributed to the recent heatwave that roasted Europe, as the country posted the hottest first six months ever recorded. The number is more than double the 407 deaths attributed to the heat in June 2025, which holds the record for hottest June. Scientists agree that such a heatwave would have been “virtually impossible” without climate change. FRANCE 24’s Sarah Morris tells us more.

Leading US AI company Anthropic says the US Commerce Department has lifted export controls on the AI models, less than three weeks after the company was ordered to suspend access to them over national security risks. Washington has stepped up oversight of new model releases to identify potential threats amid concerns that advanced AI models could be misused by military intelligence in China, Russia or other countries of concern.

Tehran won’t discuss any other issue in peace talks until control over the Strait of Hormuz is agreed, senior Iranian sources say. Iran insists on keeping control and could resume charging ships to pass by mid-August. Four ships were fired on over the weekend. The strait is split between the territorial waters of Iran and Oman.
