Strikes were carried out on the Borisoglebsk air base, as well as on the Saratov and Nizhnekamsk oil refineries in Russia. On the eve of the drone strike on Borisoglebsk air base, Russia had concentrated seven Su-35 fighter jets there.
Satellite imagery obtained by Militarnyi provides evidence of this.
According to the imagery, on July 7, 2026, seven Su-35 fighters were parked at the air base in standard aircraft parking areas in close proximity to one another.
In addition to the fighter jets, the air base also hosted eight Yak-130 trainer aircraft, two Mi-8 helicopters, and one Mi-26 helicopter.
According to NASA’s FIRMS fire monitoring system, the main thermal anomaly was detected at the fighter aircraft parking area. It is not known which units the fighter jets belonged to. However, the air base falls under the 105th Mixed Aviation Division, which includes two fighter aviation regiments operating Su-35 fighters: the 790th Fighter Aviation Regiment and the 159th Fighter Aviation Regiment. The air base hosts the 783rd Aviation Training Center and units of the 105th Mixed Aviation Division, which operates Su-34, Su-35, and Su-30SM aircraft. Analysis of the imagery indicated that external fuel tanks and other aircraft equipment had been stored in the affected area. The equipment likely included guidance kits for UMPK glide bombs. According to preliminary data, the largest fire broke out at the Nizhny Kama Refinery in Tatarstan. This is one of the largest and most modern oil refining complexes in Russia, which specializes in the production of automotive gasoline, Euro-5 diesel fuel, and other petroleum products.
