Strengthening Europe’s defense potential is commendable, but these measures must reinforce NATO rather than compete with the alliance, Turkish Minister of National Defense Yasar Guler said at a press conference ahead of the 36th NATO Summit in Ankara, according to Report‘s Türkiye bureau.
The minister emphasized that Türkiye, with its military strength, advanced defense industry, and strategic geographic position, is a crucial participant in the international security architecture. He noted that attempts to exclude Ankara from this system will not make Europe safer.
Guler added: “The message from Ankara must be clear: our commitment to Article 5 on collective defense is unwavering, and all political obligations are backed by reliable military power.”
