They solve different problems, and when you combine them, you can move from repetitive calculations to higher-level text analysis and data cleanup in minutes. Below, I explain what each

Excel Copilot can generate formulas and automate steps, but auditors and hiring managers expect transparent logic, versioning, and error-checking. Copilot helps you move faster, but you still need to design defensible spreadsheets. (releasebot.io)

The agent mode does take significantly more time than other Copilot requests, but it can create new workbooks, including spreadsheets and other material like charts and graphs based on research data.

The Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Agents in Microsoft 365 Copilot are AI-powered tools that help you create files simply by describing what you need. Whether you’re working on a work project or personal task, these agents help you generate drafts, organize information, and build files.

For example, Copilot can now access context from documents and meetings to give richer answers in Word, create slides in PowerPoint, and assist with analysis in Excel, making the assistant feel more consistent across tasks.
