Is  #Trump overselling his South Caucasian  #TRIPP? – Google Search  google.com/search?q=Is+Trump…
Based on reports from late 2025 and early 2026, the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) in the  #SouthCaucasus is being heavily promoted as a landmark,,,historic peace deal and a massive economic opportunity. Whether it is “oversold” depends on whether one views it as a genuine, transformative peace initiative or a transactional, corporate-driven project that carries significant risks. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Here is a breakdown of the arguments regarding whether TRIPP is being oversold:
Arguments that TRIPP is Oversold (Risks and Criticisms)

“Corporate Colonialism”: Critics argue that the deal is less about long-term regional peace and more of a “century-long land lease” for a 32-kilometer stretch of Armenian territory, managed by a consortium of U.S. private companies.
Sovereignty Concerns: Although Armenia insists TRIPP will operate under its laws, there are concerns that the project functions as a “land grab,” allowing American corporate interests to control critical infrastructure in the region.
Geopolitical Instability: TRIPP’s success relies on the stability of the Middle Corridor. High transport costs or regional conflicts could hinder its potential as a major trade route.
Sanctions Risks: The region has been used for sanctions evasion regarding Russia and Iran, suggesting that the “cheaper, faster” route could bring unintended security risks. [1, 5, 6]

Arguments that TRIPP is a Major Achievement

Shift in Regional Power: The project represents a significant move by Armenia to reduce its 30-year dependence on Russia for security, allowing it to move towards a more westward-looking foreign policy.
Real Peace Framework: Supporters view it as a genuine, functional, and “real” peace agreement that has managed to de-escalate tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan better than previous diplomatic attempts.
Economic Potential: The route is designed to open up trade and transit, acting as a “bridge between East and West” that boosts prosperity for the Caucasus and Central Asia.
Marginalizing Other Actors: TRIPP is seen as a way to “sideline” other regional actors with, at times, destabilizing agendas. [1, 5, 7, 8]

Conclusion:TRIPP is a highly transactional,,,US-led infrastructure project that has successfully reoriented regional dynamics away from Russia and Iran. While it provides a foundation for peace and economic development, the framing of it as a guaranteed, altruistic peace project may be oversold, as it also serves significant U.S. corporate and,geo-political interests,,often described as “transactional diplomacy”.
