#Armenia is becoming the first country in the South Caucasus to be visited by a senior official of the new White House administration —  #US Vice President J.D. Vance. According to preliminary information, Vance will not visit Azerbaijan on this trip; his visit to Baku may take place at the end of February. Vance will be in Yerevan.

According to preliminary information, the groundbreaking ceremony of the “Trump Route” will take place, and important agreements will be signed in the fields of artificial intelligence and the development of peaceful nuclear energy. There is also a possibility that documents related to the “Trump Route” company will be signed. The scope of this company’s activities has already been agreed upon by Armenia and the United States on January 14.

Thus, Armenia’s sovereignty and jurisdiction over its territory will be respected. In my view, the danger of seizing an extraterritorial corridor through Armenia is being eliminated. The Trump administration has a real achievement in the form of the pre-signed Peace Agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The implementation of the “Trump Route” project is also a brilliant deal, as it puts an end to the threat of seizing a corridor through Armenia by military force.

Why is Vance coming specifically to Armenia? Immediately after the election of the Trump administration, Armenia used its strongest connections within the circle of the new American leadership and in Washington to establish contacts with them. For Armenia, the United States is a partner that brings stability and peace, and regardless of the nature of the administration, our country will always strive to preserve and develop the strategic partnership that was established a year ago with the Democratic administration.

Through the “Trump Route” project, Armenia and the United States are affirming a long-term economic and communications interest that will continuously advance Armenian-American relations along a path of development.

Pro-Russian circles viewed the February 7, 2025 meeting between Pashinyan and Vance with great skepticism. They mocked the meeting, labeling it supposedly insignificant and citing as a reason the absence of the Armenian flag in the room. Of course, this was a superficial explanation. Pro-Russian politicians and analysts are paid to undermine and devalue Armenian-American and Armenian-European relations and developments. However, this has no practical significance.

In fact, one year after that meeting, Vice President Vance is coming to Armenia with concrete results in Armenian-American relations. The United States has decided to invest half a billion dollars in Armenia in the field of artificial intelligence. The U.S. is sensitive to the spread of AI technologies, and launching such production in Armenia means that our country is gaining the status of an important and trustworthy partner.

In previous decades, Armenian-American relations had a generally positive background and lacked major tensions, but they were missing concrete economic programs and large-scale investments. Today, this gap is being closed, which means that the entry of American economic interests into Armenia and the region further brings our relations closer.

U.S. presence is increasing, putting pressure on Russian influence. This is an extremely positive vector. That is precisely why Lavrov was recently forced to acknowledge Russia’s fears and jealousy, stating that the entry of the U.S. and the EU into Armenia could become a means of harming Russia.

I do not believe that Armenia has a problem with harming Russia. We are simply developing partnerships with the United States and the EU, formalizing strategic partnerships with them and implementing high-value economic projects. The author of Russia’s defeat in Armenia is solely that country itself.

I hope the United States views Armenia as its number one partner in the South Caucasus. Through the “Trump Route” project, we have given the U.S. the opportunity to have a presence on trade routes stretching from Asia to Europe, thereby containing the factors of China, Russia, and Iran.

We have thwarted the anti-Armenian “Zangezur corridor” under the control of Russia’s FSB, and I am confident that in this matter we acted in harmony with the United States.

Therefore, I am convinced that Armenian-American relations are headed only toward achievements and mutual benefits.
