Gunn Woman Isobel Gunn was a young woman from Orkney who, in 1806, disguised herself as a man and signed on to work for the Hudson’s Bay Company. Isobel spent over eighteen months living as ‘John Fubbister’, working with HBC teams hauling furs and provisions to far-flung trading posts across Canada and the Northern Territories.
