Public Outrage Forces Karina Milei to Flee During Campaign Event
Karina Milei, presidential secretary and sibling of President Javier Milei, was abruptly evacuated on Thursday during a campaign caravan in Corrientes province, northeastern Argentina, amid intense protests against the national government prompted by recent corruption allegations, reports 24brussels.
The protests erupted following allegations of corruption involving the National Disability Agency (ANDIS), where Milei was reportedly implicated in diverting funds from medication purchases. Demonstrators carried signs stating “Karina, big bribe-taker” and “Stop stealing from the disabled,” as tensions escalated, leading to scuffles between protesters and security personnel.
During the chaos, Karina Milei, alongside Chamber of Deputies President Martín Menem, had been campaigning for Lisandro Almirón, a candidate for La Libertad Avanza (LLA), when they found themselves in a hostile environment. Eyewitness accounts describe the scene as chaotic, with escalating confrontations forcing officials to flee.
The Twitter update captured the tense atmosphere: “BREAKING NEWS: Following the bribery scandal, Karina Milei was rejected by the public while trying to campaign in Corrientes and had to flee. Another caravan, another round of incidents. THE GOVERNMENT IS AT ITS WORST MOMENT. NO ONE WANTS THEM ANYMORE.”
This incident underscores the mounting political pressure facing the Milei administration, as public confidence dwindles in the wake of corruption allegations. The negative sentiment towards government officials appears to be intensifying, complicating their attempts to engage with voters in the lead-up to crucial electoral events.
The fallout from this situation raises significant questions about the integrity of the current administration and the potential ramifications for its future amidst growing public dissatisfaction.
Otra caravana, otra vez incidentes. EL GOBIERNO ESTÁ EN SU PEOR MOMENTO. YA NO LOS QUIERE NADIE.
