Kyiv Endures Hours of ‘Putin’s Revenge’ in Massive Overnight Attack – Gemini
Kyiv, Ukraine – June 6, 2025 – The Ukrainian capital was subjected to a harrowing night of aerial bombardment in what is being widely described as “Putin’s revenge.”
The attacks, which began in the early hours of Friday, June 6, 2025, are being framed by Moscow as direct retaliation for a recent audacious Ukrainian drone strike on Russian airbases, codenamed “Operation Spiderweb.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin had vowed a harsh response to the Ukrainian attack, a warning that appears to have materialized in the widespread and intense bombardment of Kyiv.
The assault on the Ukrainian capital was characterized by the combined use of various aerial weapons, including cruise and ballistic missiles, as well as a large number of Shahed-type drones.
Explosions were reported across Kyiv throughout the night, with air raid sirens wailing continuously.
The “hours of revenge” have left a trail of destruction and instilled a renewed sense of fear and uncertainty among the civilian population.
