@FurioTogio @GreekNME @robin_j_brooks There are about 200 billion examples of NATO in Ukraine. How do you think NATO works? They send an army of drone soldiers for you to keep in a warehouse and fight for you? No, they send you weapons and train your military to their standards. Ukraine is already doing that.

Soldier fires at civilian car in Poland

A drunk soldier in the Polish town of Mielnik fired shots at a civilian car. The man was immediately detained, according to Polish Radio Białystok.

The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. when a soldier from the 3rd Podhale Rifle Battalion in Rzeszów left a training camp armed with a pistol and fired at a civilian car. Reports confirmed he was intoxicated at the time.

The media outlet writes that other soldiers quickly reacted and detained the shooter at the scene.

Initially, it was reported that the soldier served in the Territorial Defense Forces (TDF), but the spokesperson for the operation said this was not true. No one was injured in the shooting.

The Military Police Bureau in Białystok is currently investigating the incident.

Earlier today, on January 1, it became known that a car drove into a crowd of people celebrating the New Year in New Orleans (USA). It is known that 10 people were killed. Dozens more were injured. According to media reports, law enforcement officers shot the driver when he got out of the car.

I try my hardest to point it out and have actually ruffled some very close friends and family members over it. People who do not study disinformation and its sources really don’t believe it exists but believe some guy named “Cat Turd” or some other clickbait influencer is the font of all knowledge.

We Wish You a Serene & Fruitful 2025!

I had a heart attack* two days before Thanksgiving, an all too clear reminder that nothing lasts forever. So to mark my privileged existence on God’s Green Earth, I decided to offer the SpyTalk-curious a deal that will outlive me: a half-off forever subscription for readers who’ve been following along without a financial commitment. But you’ve got to hurry: It expires at 12:01 am tonight, Jan. 2.

Here’s the thing: We love all our readers, but only paying subscribers allows me to feature the work of our veteran investigative reporters, writers and analysts, all of whom had decades of award winning careers at places ranging from the Associated Press, Newsweek, and Time to The Washington Post. (You can read more about them here.) As a matter of principle, SpyTalk pays its contributors, unlike some other natsec-oriented sites. It’s not a lot, but it’s up there with the fees for Op-ed pieces at the likes of the New York Times.

Unlike the others, the intelligence world is our only focus. And with momentous changes afoot with the incoming administration, we hope you’ll want to stick with us.

As I wrote two days ago, by the looks of it, we can be sure of only one thing as 2025 opens: Chaos, as a whole new raft of … let’s say, unusual … nominees for top roosts in the new administration’s national security team come under Senate scrutiny en route to their hoped-for offices in Langley, Va., Ft. Meade, Md., the Pentagon and 935 Pennsylvania Avenue NW (FBI headquarters).

Dismantling the legendary “Deep State” seems to be a priority. That and evicting our fine female warriors from cockpits, tanks and special warfare units. You’ll want to follow our takes on these would-be arsonists and their threatened burn-down-the-house policies during their journeys around the capital.

So, hey, those of you who’ve not yet taken the paid-subscriber plunge, do yourself a favor and take advantage of this one-of-a-kind invitation to be part of the growing SpyTalk community of veteran journalists, sharp-eyed readers and well informed commentators.

You won’t be sorry (and if you are I’lll send your money back). Meantime, act now, and I thank you in advance. Just click here.

Happy 2025!

*I got to the hospital in time to prevent damage to my heart—thanks to DC’s fire and ambulance crews and the fine doctors and nurses at George Washington University Hospital. Word to the wise: If the pain in your chest spreads to your left arm, call 911.

Zelenskyy on Canada’s G7 presidency: We hope to achieve a just peace in 2025

Ukraine hopes to achieve a just and lasting peace with Russia in 2025. Canada’s presidency of the G7 could play a key role in this effort, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Twitter (X).

“Canada’s presidency of the G7 begins today. We all have high hopes for this year — hopes that, through our collective strength, we will achieve a stable and just peace in 2025,” Zelenskyy stated.

He reminded that Canada has supported Ukraine in its fight for independence since the start of the full-scale war. The president expressed gratitude for all the assistance provided and for cooperation with the G7 countries.

“Over the past years of joint efforts, we have proven that the unity of the world’s largest democracies can make life more secure. We count on achieving similar results in the new year. Together, we must ensure that Moscow gains no benefit from this war,” the head of state added.

It is worth noting that in 2024, Italy held the presidency of the G7. In 2025, the presidency transitioned to Canada.

A few days ago, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held talks with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. The Ukrainian leader proposed increasing funding for the production of Ukrainian weapons.
