Thousands of Israelis Protest Against Netanyahu, Demand Resignation and Hostage Ceasefire Deal

Thousands of Israelis took to the streets on Saturday night, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and calling for an immediate ceasefire deal to secure the release of hostages.

Protesters, waving Israeli flags and holding signs that read “Netanyahu Must Go” and “Free the Hostages Now,” gathered in Tel Aviv’s Rabin Square. The demonstration, one of the largest in recent months, reflects growing public frustration with Netanyahu’s handling of the ongoing conflict and the government’s inability to secure the release of hostages taken by militant groups.

The rally was organized by a coalition of civil society groups and opposition parties, who accuse Netanyahu of prioritizing his political survival over national security and the wellbeing of Israeli citizens.

“We demand action now,” said protester Shira Cohen, whose brother is among those being held. “Our loved ones are suffering, and we cannot wait any longer.”

The Prime Minister’s office has not yet responded to the latest wave of protests. However, sources close to Netanyahu indicated that the government is continuing efforts to negotiate a ceasefire and secure the release of hostages.

As the protests continue to grow, the pressure on Netanyahu and his government is mounting. Many analysts believe that unless a breakthrough is achieved soon, Netanyahu’s political future may be in jeopardy.

**Tel Aviv, June 23, 2024** – Thousands of Israelis took to the streets on Saturday night, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and calling for an immediate ceasefire deal to secure the release of hostages.

The rally was organized by a coalition of civil society groups and opposition parties, who accuse Netanyahu of prioritizing his political survival over national security and the wellbeing of Israeli citizens.

“We are here to send a clear message: the people of Israel will not stand by while our citizens are held hostage, and our country is led by a man who has lost the trust of the people,” said Yair Lapid, leader of the opposition Yesh Atid party, addressing the crowd.

The protests have been fueled by recent reports that negotiations for a ceasefire and the release of hostages have stalled. Many demonstrators voiced their anger at what they see as Netanyahu’s failure to act decisively to bring the hostages home.

“We demand action now,” said protester Shira Cohen, whose brother is among those being held. “Our loved ones are suffering, and we cannot wait any longer.”
