Texas pastor sentenced to 35 years for stealing churches

(NewsNation) — A Texas pastor has been sentenced to 35 years in prison after a jury convicted him of stealing three churches valued at more than $800,000.

Whitney Foster, 56, the pastor at the True Foundation nondenominational church in Dallas, was sentenced after he was convicted of theft of property involving three local churches, Dallas County prosecutors announced.

Foster was the pastor of a small congregation that did not have a physical place to meet. Foster was accused of stealing real estate from three local churches after prosecutors said he filed fraudulent property deeds, listing a fake pastor or other church officials of the congregations from which he was found guilty of stealing property, officials said.

On the deed documents, he listed his church as the grantee in his own name. The value of the three properties totaled more than $800,000, prosecutors said.

The First Christian Church in Lancaster, Texas, Canada Drive Christian Church and Church at Ninevah were listed as the three churches that had property stolen, prosecutors said. Two of the three churches are still listed in Foster’s name.

Prosecutors said that Foster’s congregation was still meeting at one of the properties and that the third property remains embroiled in legal complications because of the pastor’s actions.

“Stealing real estate is an incredibly serious and damaging crime,” John Creuzot, Dallas County criminal district attorney, said in a statement Monday. “It’s worse than the theft of someone’s vehicle or other possessions. When someone steals property, we must hold them accountable because they are hurting people.”

The jury was presented evidence of seven additional fraudulent acts in addition to the three of which Foster was convicted. Foster was previously convicted of identity theft and arson, prosecutors announced.

“Property ownership is a bedrock of our society – it provides security, a home, a place to love and welcome each other,” Dallas County prosecutor Phillip Clark said. “It also represents a very active part of our economy, both in terms of buying, selling, and renting property, as well as property taxes that support everything our government does for the citizens of Dallas County.”

In 2021, the pastor of the Lancaster, Texas, church learned that the congregation no longer owned the building after it was deeded to another person for $10, a Dallas television station reported.

The property, valued at $700,000 at the time, was signed over to someone else after someone claiming to be the chairman of the church deeded the building over to a non-church member for $10.

At the time, Foster told the television station that he believed the church building to be vacant.

“You can acquire a property for $10 with nonprofits,” Foster told the local news station. “The church is community property. … It wasn’t Whitney buying it. Our church was getting it. I was fixing to open up a church there.”

Clark said that the area has seen an uptick in deed fraud cases in the country in recent years.

“Deed fraud cases are not simply disputes; they are lies and fraud – they are theft – and they are deeply damaging. I’m so grateful that the jury saw the truth in this case and held the defendant to account.”

Notorious Left-Wing Domestic Terrorist Donated to Rep. Jerry Nadler, ‘Squad’ Members

In June 2021, then-House Judiciary Committee chairman Jerry Nadler decried “the right-wing extremists” and “terrorists” who breached the U.S. Capitol on January 6. Weeks later, the New York Democrat accepted a $1,000 campaign contribution from an old friend: domestic terrorist Susan Rosenberg, who led a communist group that firebombed the U.S. Senate offices and other buildings in its quest to overthrow the government.

Rosenberg, whom Nadler helped obtain a presidential pardon in 2001, gave to Nadler’s campaign on July 26, 2021, according to campaign finance records. Since 2020, she has donated to “Squad” members Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D., N.Y.), Cori Bush (D., Mo.), Ilhan Omar (D., Minn.), Summer Lee (D., Pa.), and Jamaal Bowman (D., N.Y.), who accused former president Donald Trump of trying to “overthrow our government to advance his fascist cause.”

The armed overthrow of the United States government was precisely Rosenberg’s aim as a member of the Weather Underground and May 19th Communist Organization, a female-led Marxist-Leninist group that bombed the U.S. Senate offices in 1983. The FBI said the May 19th Communist Organization sought “armed revolution” and the “overthrow of the United States government.”

According to the FBI, Rosenberg was an associate of “revolutionary organizations which have a great propensity for criminal activity and violence against law enforcement officers.” She was sentenced to 58 years in prison in 1988 for her activities with the groups, but pardoned by President Bill Clinton in 2001, following an aggressive lobbying campaign from Nadler.

Democrats’ willingness to accept donations from a notorious domestic terrorist could undercut their rhetoric on the January 6 riots.

Ocasio-Cortez, who received $410 from Rosenberg through this year, has called for a special congressional committee to investigate the “Jan. 6th domestic terrorist attack.”

Nadler has claimed Antifa—the left-wing group behind riots in dozens of cities—was a “myth.” Bush, who received $362 from Rosenberg, serves on the Judiciary subcommittee on crime, terrorism, and homeland security. She has used that perch to call for more aggressive investigations into the “domestic terrorists roaming around inside the Capitol,” while criticizing the government for investigating “black identity extremists.”

Rosenberg, who works as an adjunct professor at Hunter College, was sentenced to 58 years in prison in 1988 for possession of 600 pounds of explosives and machine guns that were to be used in politically motivated bombings. She was implicated, though never tried, in connection with the Weather Underground’s 1981 robbery of a Brinks armored truck, in which two New York police officers and a security guard were murdered. She cofounded the May 19th Communist Organization, which in addition to bombing the Senate offices, bombed the National War College, South African consulate, the Israeli Aircraft Industries Building, and the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association in New York.

Rosenberg, 68, would likely still be in jail if not for Nadler. The New York Democrat has said he “certainly helped” Rosenberg obtain a pardon from President Bill Clinton, who granted the reprieve on his last day in office, over the protests of police groups, then-New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani, and Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer.

Nadler has defended his efforts to free Rosenberg, and said in a 2011 interview he thought Rosenberg should be released from jail over protests from prison officials concerned that she remained in contact with her “terrorist friends.”

“So?” Nadler said he told prison officials about Rosenberg’s ongoing terrorist affiliations.

Since her release from prison, Rosenberg has reunited with some of the extremists with whom she previously worked. She serves on the board of the Alliance of Families for Justice, an anti-prison group whose founding board member is Kathy Boudin, a Weather Underground member who served 23 years in prison for murdering the two police officers in the Brinks truck robbery. The alliance has called for the release of six convicted cop killers from prison, claiming they are “freedom fighters” set up by the FBI because of their roles in the black liberation movement.

Adeel Mangi, President Joe Biden’s nominee for the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, until recently served with Rosenberg on the alliance’s advisory board. Dozens of police groups, and at least three Democratic senators, oppose Mangi over that connection, though the White House has refused to pull his nomination. Mangi was recently removed from the alliance’s website, suggesting he is no longer on the advisory board.

Nadler’s congressional office referred a request for comment to his campaign, which did not respond. Rosenberg and the “Squad” members did not respond to requests for comment.

Sen. Baldwin Rakes in California Cash While Slamming Opponent for Golden State Ties

Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D., Wis.) has raised over $1 million from California donors while attacking her Republican opponent for having West Coast ties.

Baldwin has raised $1.4 million from Golden State benefactors in the 2024 cycle, according to campaign finance records. That’s nearly 10 times as much as her Republican challenger Eric Hovde—a businessman whom Baldwin has slammed as a “California bank owner”—has taken from California donors.

The Democratic Party of Wisconsin has taken aim at Hovde for owning a mansion in Laguna Beach and holding a leadership role at the California-based Sunwest Bank. The pro-Baldwin Capital Times, a left-leaning newspaper in Madison, described Hovde’s campaign as “awash in California cash” and reported that he has “collected $60,000 from campaign donors with California ties.”

But campaign finance records show Hovde has raised around $100,000 from California donors, a number dwarfed by Baldwin’s $1.4 million haul.

Baldwin makes frequent fundraising trips to Los Angeles and San Francisco, where she often hobnobs with anti-Israel and anti-police activists. Since her first campaign for Congress in 1998, Baldwin has spent over $60,000 on fundraising trips in California, according to campaign finance records.

Her travel has paid off. The Los Angeles and San Francisco metro areas are two of her largest funding sources, with donors from those cities alone pouring $3.9 million into her campaigns since she joined Congress, according to data published by OpenSecrets.

Some of her fundraisers have been co-hosted by activists with a history of extreme political positions.

Earlier this month, Baldwin gave the keynote speech at a benefit luncheon for the Democratic Women of Santa Barbara County. One of the event’s co-sponsors was Assemblyman Gregg Hart, who lobbied for an extension of California’s controversial “zero bail” policy, an initiative that eliminated cash bail for most criminal offenses in the state.

In July, Baldwin was photographed at a San Francisco fundraiser with anti-Israel activist Nadia Rahman. Rahman has accused Israel of “war crimes & apartheid” and “ethnic cleansing,” Jewish Insider reported last year.

Last June, Baldwin attended a Bay Area fundraiser co-hosted by local activist Carolyn Wysinger, who has called “racist police violence” a “public health emergency,” Fox News reported.

“Folks that know that racist police violence is an issue, but can’t do the one thing it takes to break the system, the one thing it takes to break the stranglehold of white supremacy on society, the one thing it takes to stop anti-Blackness from being taught worldwide: Stop centering whiteness,” wrote Wysinger in a 2020 newspaper column.

UK NHS call for O-type blood donations following ransomware attack on London hospitals

Windows-XP-end-of-like-agreement-NHS.jpg

The UK NHS issued an urgent call for O-type blood donations following the recent ransomware attack that hit several London hospitals.

The UK National Health Service (NHS) issued an urgent call for O-type blood donations due to the recent ransomware attack on Synnovis that disrupted operations at several healthcare organizations in London.

In early June, a ransomware attack on pathology and diagnostic services provider Synnovis severely impacted the operations at several major NHS hospitals in London. The attack forced the impacted hospitals to cancel some healthcare procedures, in some cases, patients were redirected to other hospitals.

Synnovis is a pathology partnership between Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and King’s College Hospitals NHS Trust, and SYNLAB, Europe’s largest provider of medical testing and diagnostics.

In a post published on its website, Synnovis disclosed it was the victim of a ransomware attack.

“On Monday 3 June, Synnovis – a partnership between two London-based hospital Trusts and SYNLAB – was the victim of a ransomware cyberattack. This has affected all Synnovis IT systems, resulting in interruptions to many of our pathology services.” reads the statement published by the company. “Regrettably this is affecting patients, with some activity already cancelled or redirected to other providers as urgent work is prioritised.”

Synnovis has yet to release a new update and hasn’t provided any information on the scope of the attack.

Law enforcement suspects that Qilin extortion gang is behind the attack.

The NHS London published a statement on Synnovis ransomware attack confirming that the incident is having a significant impact on the delivery of services at Guy’s and St Thomas’, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts and primary care services in south east London.

“On Monday 3 June Synnovis, a provider of lab services, was the victim of a ransomware cyber attack. This is having a significant impact on the delivery of services at Guy’s and St Thomas’, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts and primary care services in south east London and we apologise for the inconvenience this is causing to patients and their families.” reads the statement published by NHS London.

“All urgent and emergency services remain open as usual and the majority of outpatient services continue to operate as normal.” continues the NHS. “Unfortunately, some operations and procedures which rely more heavily on pathology services have been postponed, and blood testing is being prioritised for the most urgent cases, meaning some patients have had phlebotomy appointments cancelled.”

The NHS confirmed that the ransomware attack has disrupted blood matching tests, for this reason, affected hospitals are using O Negative and O Positive blood for patients who can’t wait for alternative matching methods. For this reason, the NHS is calling for O-type blood donations.

“England’s top doctor has today (Monday 10 June) backed calls from NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) for O Positive and O Negative blood donors to urgently book appointments to donate in one of the 25 town and city centre NHS Blood Donor Centres in England, to boost stocks of O type blood following the cyber incident in London.” reads the announcement published by the NHS Blood and Transplant.

“The IT incident affecting a pathology provider means the affected hospitals cannot currently match patients’ blood at the same frequency as usual. For surgeries and procedures requiring blood to take place, hospitals need to use O type blood as this is safe to use for all patients and blood has a shelf life of 35 days, so stocks need to be continually replenished. That means more units of these types of blood than usual will be required over the coming weeks to support the wider efforts of frontline staff to keep services running safely for local patients.”

O Negative blood is a universal blood type, anyone can receive it, for this reason, it is crucial in emergencies or when a patient’s blood type is unknown. Despite only 8% of the population having O Negative, it accounts for about 15% of hospital orders. O Positive, the most common blood type, can be given to anyone with a positive blood type, benefiting 76% of the population. 35% of blood donors have O Positive blood.

“To support London hospitals to carry out more surgeries and to provide the best care we can for all patients, we need more O Negative and O Positive donors than usual. Please book an urgent appointment to give blood at one of our 25 town and city donor centres which currently have good appointment availability.

“We have availability for donors who know they are type O but we also welcome new donors who don’t yet know their blood type. You might have one of these special types that can be used in emergencies.”

“To support London hospitals to carry out more surgeries and to provide the best care we can for all patients, we need more O Negative and O Positive donors than usual. Please book an urgent appointment to give blood at one of our 25 town and city donor centres which currently have good appointment availability.” said Dr Gail Miflin, Chief Medical Officer, NHS Blood and Transplant. “We have availability for donors who know they are type O but we also welcome new donors who don’t yet know their blood type.
