ELI5 | Why does Carbon Dioxide turn into Carbonic Acid in water?

Why does this process happen, and how? Carbon dioxide + Water is a chemical reaction that yields Carbonic Acid and a Hydrogen Ion. Basically the Oxygen of Water (H2O-The O part) attracts the Carbon atom of the Carbon Dioxide (CO2-the C part). This attraction would cause a bond between them, forming Carbonic Acid or (H2CO3, 3 Os attached to the Carbon atom, with 2 of them having one H atom each).
