NEW: The United States dropped bunker buster munitions on the Natanz nuclear facility, Esfahan Province, on March 21. The combined force previously struck the Natanz complex on March 2 and severely damaged at least three buildings. Natanz is one of the two primary Iranian enrichment sites. The IAEA reported in February 2025 that international inspectors observed activity at Natanz but could not verify the purpose or nature of the activity. (1/2)
Iran launched two ballistic missiles (IRBM) targeting the US-UK base at Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean. One missile failed inflight, and the United States intercepted the other. This attack marks the furthest ever attempted Iranian missile strike. Diego Garcia is located approximately 4,000 kilometers from Iran’s southernmost point. Senior Iranian officials have previously claimed that they had limited their missile ranges to 2,000 kilometers.
The combined force continued to strike defense industrial sites across Iran, including facilities that produce drones and naval weapons. OSINT account @ayatsubzero geolocated a US strike conducted last week at a drone production plant in Khorzuq, Esfahan Province, that produced Shahed one-way attack drones.
The United States Treasury Department issued a short-term waiver permitting the sale of Iranian oil already in transit. The waiver does not allow for new purchases of oil. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that the United States will continue to maintain maximum pressure on Iran to limit its access to the international financial system and, therefore, any revenue generated from the oil sales.
