China mass-produces silicon-free chips


China plans to launch serial production of next-generation processors this year that do not rely on silicon. These microchips are based on molybdenum disulfide, a so-called “two-dimensional” material considered one of the most promising alternatives to traditional silicon semiconductors, Azernews reports.
