The U.S. Air Force’s 403rd Wing based out of Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, has released a statement, regarding “heavy turbulence” experienced today by TEAL75, a WC-130J Weatherbird with “Hurricane Hunters” of 53rd Weather Reconnaissance Squadron, while entering the eye of Category 5 Hurricane Melissa over the Caribbean Sea. The statement says that the WC-130J is returning to its forward operating location in Curaçao, after the aircraft “briefly experienced forces stronger than normal due to turbulence.”
