India, one of the largest importers of Russian oil products, is poised to sharply cut imports of oil from the Russian Federation in order to comply with new sanctions imposed yesterday by the U.S. Treasury Department against Russia’s two largest oil companies, Rosneft and Lukoil, according to Reuters. India is currently facing 50% tariffs on all goods entering the United States — with half of those duties in retaliation for India’s continued purchase of oil from Russia, despite their ongoing full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
