According to the Pentagon, since the start of the deployment of National Guardsmen to the streets of Washington, D.C. as part of Joint Task Force – D.C. (JTF-DC) in August, the roughly 3,000 Airmen and Soldiers serving under the task force have picked up 979 bags of trash, spread 1,045 cubic yards of mulch, removed five truckloads of plant waste, cleared 5.2 miles of roadway, cut back vegetation along 1.5 miles of road, painted 270 feet of fencing, and packaged 6,030 pounds of food. The activation and deployment, part of President Trump’s D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force, is expected to last until at least December.
