ALBA Warns of U.S. Military Threats to Caribbean Stability

The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of America (ALBA), consisting of ten Latin American and Caribbean nations, has issued a strong warning regarding the recent deployment of U.S. warships and nuclear submarines in the Caribbean Sea, labeling it a significant threat to regional stability, reports 24brussels.

ALBA denounced the U.S. military operation as a breach of the 1967 Treaty of Tlatelolco, which designates Latin America and the Caribbean as a nuclear weapons-free zone. The coalition asserts that such maneuvers endanger peace and violate international accords.

In a statement, ALBA declared, “These provocative actions won’t intimidate our nations—they only strengthen our commitment to unity, cooperation, and peaceful dialogue.” The group called for an immediate cessation of what it described as a “hostile policy,” urging Washington to respect the sovereignty and independence of the region’s nations.

The member states of ALBA include Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Grenada, and Saint Lucia.

Venezuelan officials have called for the U.S. to withdraw its military assets without delay and to provide “clear and verifiable guarantees” against the deployment or threat of nuclear weapons in the region.
