The circus is headed to town!
ABCirque, an immersive performance group, is making its long-awaited return to the Brooklyn Children’s Museum on Oct. 5 for a day of interactive circus fun.
Known for its nontraditional take on circus entertainment, ABCirque aims to bring laughter with a diverse cast and charming acts packed with storytelling elements.
Dances, jugglers, acrobats, and much more will take over the museum’s rooftop for a slate of performances. After each show, families can head to the second floor of the museum to try out interactive circus stations.
At the stations, kids can try their hand at juggling, swing on silks, test their tightrope skills, take a spin on a gigantic wheel, and more.
According to Angela Buccinni Butch, director of ABCirque, this hands-on approach guarantees that young minds leave thoroughly entertained.
“The goal is to build a performance that was not simply about watching the magic unfold but to be part of the awe and wonder under the big top,” Buccinni Butch said. “We have very kinetic experiences watching the circus and it only seems right that the kids get to experience it for themselves after witnessing the magic of it all. We find the experience much longer lasting when they get to keep a piece of it all not only in their heart but physical memory as well.”
Main performances will run from 11:30 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. and from 2:30 p.m. to 3:10 p.m., followed by 20 minutes of circus stations around the second floor of the museum.
Tickets are listed online at $15 for children and adults and $14 for grandparents. Kids under one year old can enjoy the show for free. The Brooklyn Children’s Museum is located at 145 Brooklyn Ave. between St. Marks Avenue and Park Place in Crown Heights.
