Rare bipartisan agreement has taken shape in Congress on an issue that is now being fought in the courts. Republicans and Democrats are united in the belief that TikTok must be divested from its parent company, ByteDance, which is controlled by and based in China. Fears have arisen that the app, which has been downloaded by millions of users across the United States, poses a national security risk by allowing the Chinese Communist Party access to U.S. TikTok users’ phones and data.
