In the early days of Donald Trump’s criminal trial, I reminded everyone that while it was perfectly okay for us to find catharsis and even fun in watching Trump be put on trial, the process itself was not meant for our enjoyment. There would be parts that were overly clinical, parts that were legally confusing, and parts that were just plain boring in terms of entertainment value.

Sure enough, the trial has indeed been a lot of fun for those of us who are looking for Trump to get what’s been coming to him. The guy’s a career criminal and thug who sold out his country. The very least he deserves is to have some lower level felonies hung around his neck for cooking his books. And this trial has helped prove that he never even legitimately won the 2016 election to begin with.

But large chunks of this trial have also been more about the legal process than about any potential entertainment value. For every high profile witness talking about what a corrupt loser Trump is, there was an obscure witness whose job was simply to confirm that a document said what it really said and such.

That’s because in the end the only intended audience was the jury, and they were chosen specifically because they don’t approach politics for entertainment value. These are the people who were screened to make sure they’re not on a “side” and can therefore simply look at the evidence in unbiased fashion and determine guilt. This is about them, and now it’s their job – not ours, not Trump’s, not the job of anyone on TV – to decide how the trial went.

. . .

Still, as we wait for the jury to do its very important thing, this sure has been a lot of fun, hasn’t it? We’ve earned that. We’ve been fighting against this corrupt bastard for years. And we’ll continue doing so, for as long as he’s foolish enough to keep feebly getting up each time we knock him down. I don’t think he has much fight left in him. But I do know just how considerably much fight we have left in us.

This is it, my friends. The journey of justice in Trump’s first criminal case is nearly over with. Ah, and what a journey it has been! We’ve seen outbursts, Trump-naps, witnesses — many witnesses, we’ve seen quite the drama play out before us in one little courtroom.

If you’ve been following the trial coverage of Donald John Trump, you know that it would appear the Defense did not score a home run in their summation. Even as I write these words, the prosecution is delivering its closing argument. Many people are predicting a guilty verdict. One of them is someone who was once extremely close to Donald Trump.

That person is his former lawyer, Ty Cobb, who was once a key member of Trump’s legal team. Cobb has made a bold prediction on CNN – he sees a guilty verdict for Donald Trump. “I reach this legal conclusion because of my long expertise as a federal Prosecutor and white collar defense lawyer,” he said.

One knows it’s pretty bad for Trump when even one of his former attorneys confidently predicts a guilty verdict. Naturally, we can’t be sure but it does seem that all around me, wherever I look, I see web people.

. . .

These people are all over the internet, the web. All across various online platforms, from social media to message boards, to legal sites, a consensus is forming-a guilty verdict for Donald Trump is on the horizon. Ty Cobb is a vital person to listen to. He knows the players in this legal game. And, of course, he once represented the most evil one of all.

Israel continues Rafah offensive despite global protests

Israel’s tanks advanced to the heart of Rafah for the first time on Tuesday, pressing its offensive in Gaza’s southern city despite international condemnation of an attack Sunday that sparked a blaze in a tent camp for the displaced, killing at least 45 people. Ireland officially recognized a Palestinian state on Tuesday, joining Norway and Spain and defying Israel, which had condemned the plan. Scotland First Minister John Swinney said on Tuesday that the UK must also recognize Palestinian statehood. And using coffee grinds to make concrete stronger and more earth friendly.

Washington support for Israel firm after ‘heartbreaking’ Rafah camp airstrike

The White House described an Israeli airstrike on a refugee camp in Rafah as “heartbreaking,” but it made no move to limit military assistance to Israel or shift its policy supporting the country’s right to conduct operations in Gaza. Anita Powell reports from the White House.
